Why Is Futures Learning Important?

Lesson 2 Logbook:

Second lesson of the year, doing my now-favourite subject. We watched a TEDTalk about the education system and all the flaws within it. Sir Ken Robinson’s ‘Bring On the Revolution’ raised ideas and problems we all face at school. It was upsetting, seeing how little the education system has revolved, but knowing I have the power to change and revolutionise education was very empowering.

Some major points brought up about problems in education included:

  • Lack of diversity
  • No freedom for creativity
  • Restricts our experience in life
  • Restricts mindset – makes us believe our whole life revolves around scores

FL is a very fun and unique subject. Many North-European countries are revolved around free and flexible learning. Unfortunately, we don’t always have access to that; However playing games and learning about things you are passionate for, is a lot more relaxing than cramming in chapters upon chapters of algebra and quotes in your head for an hour. It is very relaxing and enjoyable.
